Roll Shades

In addition, there are several different grades of fabric that can provide varying amounts of airflow, shade and/or privacy.  Depending on the weight/grade of the mesh chosen these retractable shades can be as much as 25' wide and 20' tall. In addition, if your desire is to enclose a porch, patio or lanai you may find that the right and left sides of the openings are not square. In Florida all porches and patios etc. are designed to slope away from the home's foundation. So, the side of the opening the is closest to the home/foundation is shorter than the side of the opening furthest from the home's foundation.  Using a unique build process these motorized roll-up shades can be made to accommodate up to 4" of slope such that the bottom bar will seal at the flooring when down and be straight across the top when raised!

​Insect mesh: There are several types of insect mesh many in a variety of colors

We recommend the Super NOSEEUM fabric (Insect/shade mesh) - protects against mosquitoes, gnats, NOSEEUM’s and other pests with fair shade and UV protection. Vinyl coated polyester mesh/Openness factor 40% (40% UV protection/80% air flow) - Great air flow. Good shade. In the lighter colors such as white, beige and stucco this fabric can also provide a fair amount of privacy.  A Great value for the price.

Shade mesh: Solar 80 Shade fabric - protects against mosquitoes, gnats, NOSEEUM’s and other pests plus UV protection, privacy and shade. Vinyl coated polyester mesh/Openness factor 20% (80% UV protection/ 20% air flow) - Reduced air flow but you will still feel the air from the outside mix with the air inside. Good for shade. Great privacy in lighter colors such as white, beige, bone, shadow and stucco with fair privacy in darker shades.

Privacy mesh: Nano 95 Privacy fabric protects against the suns harmful UV rays as well as prying eyes plus all of the pests previously identified the material has an openness factor of only 5% (95% UV protection/5% air flow). This material will allow for very little airflow while providing extreme privacy and shade regardless of color. Low air flow. Great shade. Excellent privacy. Other even heavier material available by special order.

Our motorized roll-up shade and privacy screens are made from the same high strength 6063 T6 aluminum that is used make hurricane shutters! Unlike hurricane roll shutters there are more options for installing the motorized roll-up shades.  Like any of these things the motorized roll shades can be easily mounted above just about any opening.

​However, you may wish to consider having the motorized roll shade system mounted such that it is trapped within the opening and secured to the top of the opening.  This is ideal for communities with HOA's that don't allow to have anything attached to the outside of the house.  It will reduce the height of the opening by 6"-7" and reduce the width by 4".  Check the height difference if you have or plan to purchase a larger SUV, Truck or even tall Golf cart.  A very nice and sleek look that can work either by matching the home colors and virtually hiding the screen system or enhancing the homes architecture as an accent.

​In some cases, the retractable screen system can be even more concealed by having it installed inside the garage and under the torsion spring or behind the opening of an archway.

​Feature rich our roll-up motorized screens can all be remote controlled. In addition, several other motor options are available. These include:

Manual Override. The manual override motor includes a built-in hand crank mechanism so the screen panel can be raised/lowered by hand in the event of a power outage.

Obstacle Detection. The obstacle detection motor prevents the screen system from unrolling in the housing and getting bound up when there is an obstruction that is preventing the screen from going all the way down. When being lowered, if the screen with an obstacle detection motor stops on its way down because the bottom bar is hitting something, the motor will roll the mesh fabric back up about 12" and then back down again.  If it bumps on the obstruction 3 times the screen will roll back up 12" and stop. 

6-Wire. The 6-wire motor option provides additional wires to allow for low-voltage doorbell style buttons to be added that operate the roll shade as well as being remote controlled.  This is nice since you don't have carry the remote around if you are making frequent trips in/out.

Regardless of the motor operator that you choose be sure to consider where the closest power source will be. The side of the retractable roll-shade that is nearest to the power source will be the side of the unit that you would select for the motor (operator side).

All of our motorized retractable screen products can be lowered and raised with a push of a button or even from miles away with your smart phone! The motor operators can be powered with either 110v or 220v circuits or even by solar power with our optional solar power kit! If want even more control, adding a wind and light sensor kit will protect your investment by raising the screen if the wind picks up and/or be set to lower the shade with the sun rise.  Into home automation? All of our motorized options integrate Alexa or Google Home.
